Christmas Gift Wrap Ideas | Homemade

Hello everyone! Christmas is fast approaching and it's that time of year when you start to panic about buying and wrapping the gifts you bought for everyone. This year why not make it more personal and give it a go at making your own wrapping paper. I decided to use simple brown paper and a ribbon, you could also use string or lace. Instead of printing the name of the person who the gift is for,  I thought it would be more fun to customize it using scrabble pieces. However you could also use letter stamps, stickers or hand write their name on using a calligraphy pen. I love the vintage and old fashioned look of this idea, and you can choose any coloured ribbon or tags to fit in with your theme.

Walled Garden & Craft Fair

Today I went with my mum to this lovely craft fair at a walled garden. My mum takes me to the most amazing of places, thanks mum! I can't wait to drive then I can go myself. There was a few little craft stalls which sold handmade items such as knitted scarfs and little owls, stained glass jewelry, and local honey.  There was also warm berry juice to warm us on up this cold day. After this we went for a walk around the gardens and I couldn't resist snapping a few photos, there's something so magical about this time of year.

Quick and Easy Avocado and Mozzarella Salad

Although it's autumn and coming up for winter, you can't beat a good old salad. Recently i've been trying to eat more healthily and experiment with new foods so when I discovered this simple recipe I had to share it with you. It makes a good alternative to a pre-made salad from a supermarket, I know how busy lunch time can be but don't worry, this healthy alternative will take no time to make. And it's fresh! I also think this makes a good alternative to a generic salad with lettuce and tomatoes.

Avocado, Mozzarella and Lemon juice salad: (serves 1, or 2 if you don't want a big portion)

Ingredients: 

- 1 avocado

- 1 mozzarella ball (or you can use small mozzarella cubes)

- 1/2 a lemon
- black pepper
- 1 tbs olive
- Handful of cherry tomatoes (optional)

Method:

- Cut avocado in half, remove stone and then slice the avocado vertically and horizontally (like in the picture above) to form cubes

- Tip the avocado pieces into a bowl or container

- Chop the mozzarella up (if you're using a ball of mozzarella) then place in the bowl with the avocado and mix together

- This step is optional, chop cherry tomatoes in half and mix in with the avocado and mozzarella. I don't like tomatoes that much so I didn't add them to my salad but if you like them go ahead!

- Chop a lemon in half and then squeeze over the bowl, careful not to get any pips in, then pour olive oil over and season with black pepper

and that's it you're done! Sit back and enjoy your delicious fresh salad :)

Film cameras

Hello everyone! It's been over a week since I've written a new post partly due to lack of inspiration and that I've been so busy with A Level work and applying for university. Today I thought I'd do a post on two of my recent purchases, which I'm very excited to use. After being interested in photography for a number of years now I've been desperate to try out film photography's and experiment more with photography. I love the depth and effect film photography has and the small imperfections of the final image...which make it perfect in its own way. I find by having an DSLR camera I become quite picky whether my photo is in focus or not or whether it is too over exposed. Then I find myself deleting the image and re-taking it. But that's the beauty of film photography, you don't know what the photograph looks like until you've got it developed. So in effect you really have 'captured' the moment and that's one of the reasons I was drawn to start trying film photography.

I picked up this film camera and Polaroid camera for a few pounds in a local secondhand shop and they look brand new so I'm just praying that they work properly and I'm able to finally get into film photography. Having never used a film camera before I know that my first batch of images won't be brilliant but hey ho I'll give it a try. When I was researching into the film needed for the Polaroid I noticed it was quite expensive, if any of you know any shops or websites where I could get it cheaper it would be much appreciated!
