What I did today: Flower Arranging

I thought I would share with you all what I got up to today. Last year my mum started her own flower business, she wanted to bring back British flowers and provide people with home grown and vintage looking arrangements. Last year we did a craft fair together, you can see the post here and from there it has taken off. Today I helped her photograph and arrange the flowers to sell in a local farm shop.

I think I should stick to photographing them rather than arranging them..

and here is the final result, I really enjoyed photographing them! If you want to see more of my mums flowers or are interested in what she is doing she has her own Facebook page which you can find here.

English Rose | A Sunday Adventure

Hello there! Today I decided to take a break from my revision and swap my highlighters in exchange for my camera and sunglasses. The past few days in England have been wet and humid, but today it was a glorious summers day. I took the opportunity to explore my local area a bit more with my mum. I've lived in Lincolnshire the whole of my life and although I visit Lincoln at least a few times a month, I realised that I haven't really explored it properly. I'll be leaving for university in September and be moving out of Lincolnshire and in many ways I will miss the small market towns and country houses which I visited when I was younger with my family. After stopping off at a cafe for lunch, we visited a few open gardens. I was able to explore the beautiful high walled gardens, I think the pictures speak louder than words in this case. Even today the gardens still haven't lost any of their original charm and character, it felt as if I was transported to a secret garden. (Just like in the film)

Keeping a journal/diary

I've been wanting to make a blog post about this for as long as I can remember, but my recent trip to Paris gave me the encouragement to do so. Today I thought I'd share with you a little bit more about myself and not just about the places I have visited. In a generation where we are becoming increasingly reliant on technology and smart phones to plan our days and keep notes I feel like we are slowly drifting away from actually sitting down and writing down our thoughts and experiences. Don't get me wrong, I don't think I could live without my phone or the internet but there is something so great about sitting down at the end of a busy day and just being able to write down all of your thoughts, feelings and experiences in a diary or journal.

I bought a Moleskine in about June time last year and I was determined to fill it but being a perfectionist I was too scared to 'ruin' it and not fill it properly. Am I the only one who does this? Probably. After I got over my fear of not writing the right thing in it, I began to really enjoy keeping a journal. With applying for University and studying for my A Levels while trying to balance every day life it can get a bit stressful and hectic, but I felt by writing how I was feeling down I was able to move on from that as soon as I wrote it. Even if I only wrote a few words or sentences it made me feel a whole lot better. I don't think I could write in it every day, but it's there when I need it. I also found keeping a journal of all of the places I've been and writing down my thoughts and feelings of the place allowed me to relive the moment and keep the memory of the place alive.

But you don't just have to write in your journal! When I have time I'll often just make little doodles and use my watercolours. You can fill it with whatever you want to and in a way that's what makes it so unique because there's little parts of you in it. Another fun way to fill your journal is to use a disposable camera to capture the moments as they happen, and once you get them developed you could add them to your journal. I know sometimes for me, pictures speak louder than words and what a better way to do this than to buy a disposable camera and have some fun with it, you never know how the pictures are going to turn out!

If you want to look for some inspiration on how you can fill your journal you can click here where I have put together a collection on weheartit.

(p.s. I also bought a new mug in Paris and it's the cutest mug I've ever seen. I may have a habit of collecting pretty mugs!)
