PARIS Trip: Part 2

Here is part 2 of my trip to Paris, I have so many pictures to share with you all I decided to post all of the places I visited in different parts. If you read my previous post you would have seen pictures of when I visited the Louvre, and it was one of the most amazing places I've visited in my whole life. It is truly a once in a life time experience. If you're a bit of an art and history geek like myself you'll be in heaven. I also visited the Musee d'Orsay and the Musee de l'Orangerie which were both so beautiful, I was so overwhelmed by the architecture of the building themselves as well. I still can't comprehend the fact that I saw Vincent van Gogh and Claude Monet's work in real life, as well as many other famous painters. One of my highlights was definitely seeing the painting which was used as Coldplay's Viva la Viva's album artwork.

I've seen images of it in art class and online but nothing compares to seeing it in real life. Each and every brush stroke was noticeable and close up you could see the big scores of paint but from a distance all of the lines and marks came together to create something so beautiful and breathtaking. I also had the honour of being able to see the Mona Lisa close up, I was able to get to the front of the crowd and sneak a peek. I have to admit it was a lot smaller in real life than I imagined it to be! While I was viewing the painting I couldn't stop laughing because there was groups of people taking 'selfies' with her. They would all of a sudden turn around and use their front camera which I have to say was quite amusing, but I don't think the security guard thought it was.

One of the highlights of my trip was visiting the Eiffel Tower! It was so surreal to be standing underneath such a magnificent piece of engineering. When I heard we had tickets to go to the summit I was kind of scared. I wouldn't say I'm scared of heights but the thought of going up that high in a clear glass lift did unnerve me. So after many deep breathes I decided to go up, even if that meant gripping onto the metal bar inside the lift the whole time. When we reached the top my first thoughts were, why is it so cold! Next time I'm going to wrap up more. I originally thought the windows of the level were tinted because it was so foggy! You'll see what I mean in the photos below. It was a shame we couldn't see much at the summit but it made me appreciate the scale of the tower even more and the beauty of this city, even from above.

(I told you it was foggy!)

PARIS Trip: Part 1

Hello everyone, it's been a while since I wrote a new blog post and I have really missed blogging. I wasn't intending to take a break from blogging but the past few months have been so busy for me and I just haven't found the time, but thank you for sticking with me! I'm super excited to share with you some snippets of my trip to Paris. I've wanted to visit Paris for as long as I can remember, the architecture and history fascinated me and I'm so grateful I got the opportunity to visit with my school.

We were on the bus by 5am in order to get to the ferry port in Dover before 11pm but there was long delays due to the weather so we didn't arrive at our hotel in Paris until 2am the following day! So after having around 3 hours sleep we set off to the heart of Paris to visit The Louvre and Musee D'orsay. We took the Metro and that was an experience in itself, there was a man playing the accordion next to us and it really added to the atmosphere of the journey. After a walk through the gardens we arrived at The Louvre and after all of the anticipation it felt so surreal that I was here and was about to stand amongst some of the most beautiful pieces of art in the world.

I was so overwhelmed by the intricate details of the interior of the building it was difficult to focus on the beauty of the paintings.

Stay tuned for more pictures, I'll be posting the other parts of my trip soon! If you've been to Paris what was your favourite place you visited?
